YouTube Filtering

Due to a recent change in Google policy YouTube filtering is now managed through our google environment, this may mean you are seeing restricted videos where you did not see them before, this article will guide you to using YouTube and how to approve videos.


Keeping Children Safe in Education asks schools to ensure "...appropriate filters and monitoring systems are in place..." but at the same time "...be careful that overblocking does not lead to unreasonable restrictions".


Primary Schools 


We have lowered the filtering level to an appropriate level for all primary schools and will approve videos upon request if appropriate, you will need to be logged in to view certain videos your school will have the login details for your school account however please contact the Emmaus ICT services helpdesk if you need the login.


If you come across a video that has not been approved you will see the below underneath the video, which will allow you as the educational professional to decide if the video is appropriate for primary pupils and add it to an approved list,



Secondary Schools


We have lowered the filtering level to an appropriate level for all secondary schools and will approve videos upon request if appropriate, you will need to be logged in to view certain videos,


All secondary staff has their own google login using their school login details, which you will need to use to log into Youtube to watch approved videos, 


If you come across a video that has not been approved you will see the below underneath the video, which will allow you as the educational professional to decide if the video is appropriate for secondary pupils and add it to an approved list,
